AUTUMN GLOW: THE FALL CANDLES WE CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT

Growing up, my father kept a steady supply of candles on hand—big generous boxes of tapers, chunky pillars, and a few favorite scenteds on hand. It inspired a real candle hoarding in my soul, and I find myself grabbing a few extra candles everytime something new comes in. Perfect for a last minute gift or an impromptu dinner party, candles can make all the difference in setting the scene (and getting the BIG LIGHT turned off!)

Fall is the perfect time to restock your candle assortment, ahead of holiday hosting and Thanksgiving tablescapes. This week, we’re rounding up our favorite fall candles for gifting, hosting, styling, and getting cozy!

ROMANTIC AND MOODY

October isn’t the only dark and stormy month of the fall. I love those colder Novermber days when the sun is setting early, and you’re heading home to roast a chicken and drink Burgundy while reading novels. Lodestone Candles, hand poured luxuries from Maryland, are the ultimate narrative paring. Whether you prefer the After the Rain with the hints of pink pepper and foliage or Rich Earth with the oak moss and cloves, the beautiful packaging makes a great additional to your fall vibes. A team favorite? The Whisky.

KITCHEN INSPIRED SCENTS

As this is my husband’s favorite time of year to cook, our house is always filled with savory, herbal, and aromatic scents. When he travels, I try to keep the warmth going with my favorite herb garden scents from Flamingo Estate. The Climbing Tuscan Rosemary is perpetually on our counter and is also one of my go-to hostess gifts. Clean burning, without any cloying sweetness and deeply scented, it’s a full sensory indulgence.

TABLE APPEAL

Since I essentially have candles throughout my entire home, I’m always looking for new options that will blend seamlessly into my décor. Our newest addition to our candle assortment is from Bellocq, the famous Brooklyn tea atelier. These beautiful brass vessels feel like little brass sculptures. I’m crazy about the tea inspired scents (my favorite is the Majorelle Mint), and these perfect modern holders make a gorgeous addition to your coffee table styling.

NOVELTY TAPERS

Turn off those unflattering overhead lights and set right lighting mood with a taper (or five!). We love these sculpted and specialty tapers for bringing a lot of look with a little bit of effort. I’m a big fan of the vegetable candle trend and was thrilled to find these charming beeswax carrot tapers. Inspired by the carrots from the Hollywood Farmer’s market, these cuties are the perfect addition to a Thanksgiving table. Not into tapers? This corn cob candle is an adorable freestanding alternative. Mix and match sizes and quantities for a big impact. A dinner party must.

WOODLAND CAKE TOPPERS

I like cakes for all occasions. We currently sell a pumpkin cake with buttermilk frosting at the restaurant, and I love layering fall foliage (clean obviously) and spices atop it. If I were hosting at home, I would add this precious Stag cake topper to wander around in my little seasonal cakescape.

WINTER NIGHTS

I don’t always love “seasonal” scent. I spent most of my early retail years at Anthropologie and the lingering notes of pumpkins spice or mulled wine candles with haunt me forever. These days, I prefer a more sophisticated nod to the time of year. Gstaad Glam from Assouline has notes of cypress, cedar, and black tobacco leaves, meant to evoke the warmth of a European winter escape. The invigorating sweetness of juniper berry and palo santo arrive as you get cozy by the fireplace on a snowy day.
